Andrea Curley T.C.R.G

I started to learn dancing at the age of 4 with the Boyle School and then with the O'Shea School from the age of 10 in my native Dublin. Before long I was competing in Feiseanna, placing at World Championship level and winning the Great Britain Championships. Along with the competitive side of dancing I also enjoyed performing and spent many summers touring folk festivals across Europe.

In 1994 I was part of the original 7 minute interval act at the Eurovision Song Contest that became “Riverdance – The Show”. For the next six years I toured full time with Riverdance – The Show performing as a troupe dancer before taking up, in 1996, the position of Dance Captain both in the touring company and the Broadway production until returning to Ireland in 2000.

I also started dancing at the age of 4 in Oxford, England. My mum is a dance teacher, hence the natural introduction. Needless to say as a lad in England, Irish Dancing was not seen to be the “coolest” activity, but I stuck at it and enjoyed success on the competitive scene.

In 1996 I joined Riverdance – The Show in London. I spent almost five years touring full time with Riverdance throughout USA, Mexico & Australia. In 2000 I stopped touring, but performed with the Riverdance Flying Squad as Principal Dancer for a further 6 years.

I began Irish dancing at the age of 6 with the O'Shea dancing school in Dublin. I competed up to the age of 21 in many local feiseanna, Leinster, All Ireland, American National and World championships.

At the age of 16 I was accepted into the Riverdance flying squad which was a great experience being able to perform with the show while being in school and college. During my Summer holidays from college I had the privilege to perform in Busch Gardens theme park in Virginia USA. After qualifying from college I toured with Riverdance full time for two years.

Sheelagh Newman (Teaching Assistant)

I started dancing when I was 5 years old and I was addicted overnight! Over the next 8 years, I participated in competitions all over Ireland including the All-Ireland and Leinster Championships dragging my parents to classes and Feiseanna on a weekly basis. I also participated in many figure dancing competitions including the All Ireland Championships.

My role is to assist Andrea, Martin and Maeve with the school and to work with the children on dances and steps as they progress from beginner to advanced stages.
